The initial and fundamental step towards successfully passing the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) is to thoroughly comprehend and review the exam content. Both the Physical Therapist (PT) and Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) exams comprise objective, multiple-choice questions that span the key areas of physical therapy.

The PT and PTA exams are crafted to evaluate a candidate's foundational entry-level competency post-graduation from a PT or PTA program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) or from an equivalent program lacking accreditation. These exams serve two primary objectives:

 <li>To ensure that only individuals with the necessary knowledge of physical therapy are licensed in the field, and</li>
 <li>To assist regulatory authorities in assessing candidates and establishing uniform standards across different jurisdictions.</li>

The national exams constitute just one segment of the assessment process employed by licensing boards. In certain regions, national exam results are complemented by other assessment methods to gauge candidates' aptitude in physical therapy practice. The exam consists of either 250 or 200 questions and spans a duration of four to five hours. Given its significance, thorough preparation is imperative for every candidate.
